What a whirl wind few weeks, to see so many galleries and visit collectors was a very humbling experience. I’ve had time to reflect on all that I have seen and experienced, for me meeting the collectors and seeing their collections was truly amazing. To see pieces in the flesh instead of books, sensational. View pieces from Western Australian artists was a pleasant surprise. I must confess however the trip to the Renwick Gallery was the high light, to see a Maloof rocking chair, Krenov cabinet and a Nakashima coffee table took some stacking, they were breath taking.

Back to the workshop and into some wood for a time, chance to see what the other participants in the ITE have in mind for the residency. Some very creative ideas, can’t wait to see the final outcome. Echo Lake, great three days, Ben Carpenter’s dragon collaboration stole the show. Well done.

The last couple of weeks has seen the group gel together very well, with John Kelsey drawing into focus our time table which has fallen into place very nicely. Thanks John

I’m off to the AAW symposium in Tampa tomorrow looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.

We keep the official calendar on a big sheet of paper that everyone can see and annotate.
